The big one!

A 29lb Chinook, caught by the hubs....we'll await it's arrival, either smoked, candied or frozen! Take man is not a smallish guy...that sucker is huge!

Spending time with my kids....

....well, at least two of them.

Teddy finished up his last day of work...he's beat...he's burnt....he's worn....he's still coming with us to the Seattle Zoo tomorrow.

I took the two younger ones to the Cultus Lake Water Slides. Despite the initial..."I'm going to be bored. It won't be any fun without a friend." and "I'm not going! It's too far! I'm staying home!" Gee...guess which comment belongs to who?! At the end of the day, it was...."Thanks mom, that was a lot of fun!" and "I don't wanna gooooo home yet!" So there you was a memorable experience to be had by all.

Well, that's if you take out the fact that they (the staff) had to scoop out a human "poop" from the pool that Aleks was swimming in. I was frantically gesturing him to get out and kept saying "get out! get out!" I saw it (the log) with my very own eyes folks! Disgusting!! And let's not forget the fact that I stepped on a bee! Thankfully, quick thinking had me squeezing the venom out a.s.a.p.!!! Unfortunately we still got a little bit of swelling and a lot of "ow" that's still with me 10 hours later.

Tomorrow we're off to the Seattle zoo...all three in tow...wish us luck.

Did I mention I'm missing the hubs? Just kinda hit me.

A new look.....

.....something else to occupy my time.

I'm off to the water slides.

A bunch of stuff....because it's too early to think of anything really substantial

It's 7 a.m.....I'm up. 7 isn't all that early, except that I actually awoke at 4 a.m. and then awoke a second time at 5:30 which point I got out of bed. I don't know how people do it...well I suppose they go to bed earlier than 11 p.m....but that's difficult when you have a "night owl" for a daughter AND you have to "stay up" until she's asleep!

Did you know that people drive like idiots even at 6 in the morning?

The hubs is gone. Hopefully the wind warning for the Queen Charlottes won't be a bother to the helicopter they're flying in. Helicopter? bloody chance in H.E. double hockey sticks you'd ever catch me in one of those. Good thing he started a patch yesterday to prevent motion sickness. One thing is for sure....they'd be cleaning up after me!

I love how quiet and still the world is at 4 a.m.....

A while back I switched from using "regular" sugar in my coffee to "Splenda". A couple of days ago I ran out of the Splenda and started using sugar again....yuck.

I picked Teddy up from work last night at 8....poor kid...he was blacker than the pupils in my eyes! Woke up to a good nose bleed and then off to work's supposed to be a really warm one, so I hope he'll be okay. He's working today and tomorrow and is contemplating a couple of days next week. He's lost weight and gained height. It's amazing how respectful he's become with me since he started to work...that's not to say that he wasn't before...he was....I guess "respectful" isn't the word....he was more of a turd before (and I say that in a loving motherly way). I guess he's just too tired to act out.

Oh...I made the yummiest "won ton soup" was amazing! I just wish that I hadn't burnt the sh*t out of my mouth...

As I was running around yesterday between doctor's appointments (my fil's), getting groceries, answering client calls and picking up last minute attire for the hubs....I was in Costco and found the coolest "family calendar". I already filled it in with a bunch of things so that the kids are aware of what's going on in our busy lives. It's one thing for me to have everyone's itineraries in my BlackBerry but I thought this would be a good way for them to be reminded of their appointments also. Of course Krystina has already penciled in happy and/or sad "faces" whenever "dad" would be home from work or "mom" would be away at work. Also picked up a book with over 250 "pickling" recipes....are you wetting your whistles yet? If there was a crisis and we were without access to food or water....there's plenty of wine and canned items underneath our stair case!

Well I'm done here for's been a while since I've written so much...I need to rest my fingers a little.

Not accustomed

Tomorrow morning at a bright and early (and disgusting) hour (4 a.m.) my husband will leave me for 4 days. I don't have a "problem" with it....per's just that in the last 20 years we've been away from each other incredibly seldom....of course the last time was when I went to Boston...which wasn't that long ago...and yes, I'd go again! It's just that there's a wind warning for the part of B.C. he's going to and the last part of their journey is by helicopter. So yeah...I'm a little "concerned".

But I have plans...good plans.

Tomorrow Krystina has a couple of really cool "craft" classes.

Friday I'm taking Al and Krystina to a cool water slide park that I've never been to.

Saturday I'm taking all three to the Seattle zoo.

Sunday I have to attend a "garden party" on my own...I'm still contemplating getting myself some new duds for the occasion. And then I'm going to pick up my husband and meet him for drinks and munchies!

But did I mention?...I have to get up at 5:30 and take Teddy to work (normally Tony's job). And did I also mention he came home at 8:15 p.m. today?

We're all still a little safer on the roads tonight.

Today was busy, busy, busy! Up with the alarm, a quick coffee and then headed out to the city to pick up some paperwork from one client, then to another to finish some paperwork. The weather was "iffy" so Teddy's crew was sent home and I promised him I'd take him to the motor vehicle branch if I finished up early enough. Well we managed to exchange his and Al's new shoes...for bigger ones ( 10 1/2 and 8!!! ), pick up an iPod Classic cover (he went for the gusto and bought himself a 120 gb one!...crazy!)...and then we headed to get Teddy his "learner's license".

He didn't pass.

True to Teddy's attitude and form...he thought he could "wing this" without all. So I lost out on $15 (the next is his), we lost out on 45 minutes of time and we all remain a little safer on the roads...until next week.

On a totally different note....I'm now the proud owner of "reading glasses"!! It's just soooo unfair...but it's amazing how much of a difference they make! I can see! I can see!

Oh and did you hear about Ryan Jenkins? I'm not sure if I should be happy that he did that to himself or sad that he was so incredibly f*ck^d up!?

As boring as they get

I've been away from "this place" for a little while....I'm not excited about coming here right now. I had a really intense post all ready to go, actually it's still in "draft" mode...not sure what I'll do with it at this point...I was really spewing...maybe too much for me to want to "air". Life is just busy...crazy busy....trying to juggle it all and keep the kids happy. Planning on heading down to the Seattle zoo next Friday, maybe throw in a baseball game with them (the hubs is going away for a few days on a fishing trip with his boss and other colleagues). I'm just so busy...and am wanting to attempt tomato sauce this weekend...see...this is why I don't have time (and am too tired too) write anything of any significance here. Teddy gets his first paycheque tomorrow....hmmm....maybe he'll buy dinner?!!?!?

A little update...

...well, really not a hell of a lot to say. It's been an emotional couple of days, but now it's time to move on...and try and catch up.

Recently downloaded this guys' newest song "Pilgrimage"....lovin it!

The All-American Rejects - New Music - More Music VideosThis is another one I'm lovin!

Last night was the first night in a very, very long time...we're talking months...that I slept until the alarm went off...and amazingly enough...I didn't go to sleep 30 minutes prior....I was out rock solid. I'm hoping (but not counting on it) that I'll do the same tonight.

We had another major rain/thunder storm today, so Teddy was done by 11:30..the weather supposed to clear up tomorrow so I'm sure they'll put in their "o.t." then.

Life is too short on this earth...far too short...did you know that? It really struck me yesterday as the coffin was being lowered down into the was eerie almost...and yet the whole procession was quite beautiful.

So much going on......I was struck by something the priest had said yesterday....

....basically it was..."at the end of the day...are you happy with what you've accomplished in that day?...if you were to pass away that moment....would you be satisfied?" I know I could be so much about you?

It was a beautiful day for a.....

...funeral. really was.

I've been incredibly busy (no surprise) and am barely keeping my head above water. A good friend of mine...her father passed away suddenly (well not too suddenly...he was ill for a while but...he was coming around again) and she asked that I come by (yesterday) and take photos of the flowers they received. If I may be so bold....I took some amazing shots and have already given her mom what I considered to be "one of the best" (reduced her to did). I won't be posting any of those on flickr out of respect for the family, my friend and her father....just trust that they were good...cuz they were. Today was the funeral...emotional, beautiful, sad, joyful and even humorous...when her daughter decided to lift her dress up over her head just seconds before the casket was lowered into the ground...I was glad to have been a part of this day for her and the family. Tomorrow will be the first day to overcoming their day.

On a different note...Teddy continues to love his job..."psycho".

I continue to fall behind on my work.

My fil continues to throw me for all kinds of loops.

Tomorrow will be a "catch-up" day...whereby I not need to leave the comfort of my pj's.

This is apparently, my child. he came home, last Friday. He lucked out with the awful downpour we had Monday and got to come back home...yes...he called me...twice...but I didn't hear. We keep the bedroom phone unplugged to avoid unnecessary heart attacks in the middle of the night....but I did have my cell phone with bed....because I just had "a feeling"....course he didn't call me on that number. Sooo...he took the bus the pouring rain. I don't raise them stupid! You wanna know what he said to me today...."mom, I can't wait to go back to work tomorrow"....he has issues...yes, he does.

I have jam...lots of jam...lots of yummy jam...blueberry/raspberry...yum!

I spent the morning today taking photos of flowers...lots and lots of flowers...and you all know how much I love flowers! Although today was a little different...they were being taken for a friend whose dad just passed away...I think I "done good".

Anyways....I know I've been always so much to say, but when I sit down to say it....I'm wiped.

More insanity....

....I'm sending my dad to get me 10 lbs of blueberries this weekend (and some raspberries). Apparently I've stuck in my head that I'm going to make my own blueberry and raspberry jam...along with mango butter. mmmmmmmm Pickles in September.

"This"...I didn't expect.

Yesterday when I picked up Teddy "from work"...he was still smiling. Three days, 37.50 hours, blistered, burnt, sore, dirty, smelly and seriously pooped....he said he's thinking about going back to work the entire summer next year! I grow insanity! Another 6:30 a.m. start, he wanted to make sure he was a little early as they were having a "company meeting". It was also payday....but I told him he'd probably not get a cheque, as he had just started on Tuesday and I'm sure their "cut-off" is a few days prior to pay day....he was okay with that....he knows that by the end of today he'll have made a cool $500.00. What 15 year old makes that kind of cash in 4 days?!?! I'm sure he's looking forward to the next two days off...unless he decides he wants to go and "clean" the shop up or something! And get this....we're going over to a family friends tomorrow....and he says he'll come with us!! He NEVER goes out with us!! There is hope! ;o)

Wednesday, August 5, 2009

I'm not sure how he's doing it.... was a 12 hour day...sunny and warm, and a little overcast at times. He's burnt (lips, neck and new meaning to "red neck"), tired, sore and ready for more....that's my boy!!!

I managed to pick off 10 lbs of tar from his boots. His dirty clothes are in the laundry and he has clean bed sheets to crawl into tonight. Is he my babe?? doubt about it!

6:30 a.m. start tomorrow.

Oh and the stubble goes quite well with the sun burn.

Tuesday, August 4, 2009

Once again I should really be in bed...

...I'm feeling the affects of getting up at 5:30 this a.m., and from actually being since 3:00 a.m. I hate nights like that. Tossing and turning, stupid dreams (this one had to do with a severe lightning storm whereby Tony and I were walking up our street and then a bunch of tress fell on the house...with the kids in it....I started mad)....frick..I AM mad!

Both Krystina and Tony are suffering from colds. Me?....just sheer exhaustion.....and a bit of the blues. Okay....a lot of the blues. It's all good though....staying slim.........thanks to the "pee pill"....good grief....just over a week into and I just keep peeing and peeing.....I never peed in one week what I pee in one day now.

Anyways...just me very going to bed.

All I smell is tar.

Teddy came home from his very first day of real "employment". He's not quite 16 (August 24) but has managed (thanks to dad's help) to get a 4 week stint with a very reputable roofing company. He gets paid $12 per hour....not bad for a kid in school. They specialize in commercial products, so most of their jobs are on flat roofs...thankfully! The thing was a 14 hour day. And it was hot. And there was flame throwing. And hot black tar. And he starts tomorrow at 6:15 a.m. And he stinks. But it bad for a mother to say her son looks good in a hard hat and steel toed boots?!?!

Saturday, August 1, 2009

The best spent $60

I bought a new inflatable pool this summer. The pool itself was $60...the chemicals to keep it clean were another $40. Can I just tell you though....we've spent 90% of our evenings in that thing...laughing, giggling, getting wet, blowing bubbles, blowing's been great! I'll do it again next year, if I have to!

On a different note...I also spent $144.00 on steel toed boots, work socks and a long sleeved, white cotton shirt...for "the roofer". He starts Tuesday. He's looking forward to it. Even though he has to get up at 5:30.

My girl has a does that happen when it's 38 degrees outside?

I think I'll spend some time on the couch with the kids....the pool wasn't enough.
