I'm a digger

I dug up the garden (all three of them) and the corner flower planter (which really isn't a planter at all...more like 30 sq feet of weeds and leaves)...I may not be able to move tomorrow....I feel my back caving in now.....but hey...I got my workout in and...my garden is clean and ready for vegetation!

Nothing to write home about

I realized after I wrote second last post....it sounds like I did more drinking the supporting, while in Boston?! Truly, NOT the case!!! I was at the finish line! She just came around the wrong way! Okay...that's between my sister, my bil and I.

Can I just say "chaotic"?! It's done. I'm done. Deadlines have been met. That in no way means I can "relax"....can you imagine? me? relax? Yeah...that's what I thought.

My dad and my uncle went out today...they were gone for the better part of the day. My uncle's pretty cool actually....except he keeps smacking his forehead and says "Jesus Maria" (in Slovak of course)....he's a very emotional guy....I think leaving will be tough for him...and my dad...so I'll stay home. But yeah...they went out, did the town and brought home groceries....lots and lots of groceries. On one of the busiest days of the year....they pile me up with groceries....everything from fruit to bread, cookies and cake to pop (something I rarely buy), toilet paper to chickens (dead...of course), to whipping cream and coffee. What to do about the dead birds?

Still having an exasperating time communicating with him....I can understand the language 99.9%, but when it comes time to speaking it....I swear I break out into a sweat and hyperventilate.

They'll be taking it easier tomorrow...besides, we're starting round two of the Stanley Cup Playoffs and the Canucks are playing against the Bruins...big game!

I'm thinking I'm going to dig up my garden tomorrow.

Insanity at it's best!

My uncle has arrived

Yes it's true...my uncle has arrived from Slovakia. I haven't seen him since I was 18 months old...and really don't know him one bit. However.....my dad is thrilled and he really is a very nice guy and.....I think I'm going to enjoy him.

Let's carry on

So after a really yummy "salad" dinner...okay, it might have been a "salad" but it was chalk full of all kinds of yummies that weren't so "salady"....like steak and cheese and bread....just yum! Not to mention the 1/2 bottle of wine I ordered for myself...sorry sis. It was a gorgeous night when we arrived in Boston, warm and very welcoming...of course by the time our meal came (we sat outside) the wind picked up and we were pretty much clutching our jackets closed to avoid wind friction. Anyways...we knew right at that moment that we were in a very, very cool city.

Beat and worn we headed back to the hotel and made our way to our beds. zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.........

I awoke to my sister's cell phone playing some awful tune at 7:50 a.m. Funny...she usually has pretty good choice in music but...the tunes she picked on her cell....could use another picking. I woke up and ask her..."what's going on?" She says to me..."I don't know, "S" is doing something weird" ("S" being her husband, my bil)...I'm like..."Yes!....he's ordered breakfast for us!" So she goes out to the hallway and lo and behold....there he is! She says "OMG"...I say "OMG" (something I don't ever say) and....we go from there!

It was a surprise....and a very welcome one for my sister! I'm so glad that he was able to come and share this very cool time with her. And I'm so very glad that I ended up with a drinking partner...okay, that doesn't sound very good but....well, come one....she couldn't have a drink until AFTER the race, and I....was on vacation too! ;o)

We did some sight-seeing that day and then ended up at Fenway...he had it all arranged....the tickets for all "three" of us and everything. So I ended up drinking 4 beers (something I NEVER do) with him, while my sister got a kick at watching us get buzzed. We had the most delicious (at least in my opinion) pizza ever, after the game. Seriously...it was that good.

The walk from Fenway to the hotel did us good and...then we enjoyed (while my darling sister slept) another bottle (or two) of wine...watching some show that I would never typically watch.

Pretty sad huh? Whatever...it was fun!

Too tired

Okay, so I'm too tired for a "Boston" update but I did lose 2 lbs...totally not planned. Just so you know though....I have an appointment booked for Monday for my first (of many) physio appointments...I told you...I had "plans"! At least I think, I'm going about it the right way...this time!

Oh and...my "lump" is being removed on June 4th....this time under a "local"...yay!

Cheddar X...for the spring time

1. What's the best part of spring?
Mmmmm....gotta be the warmer sun, the flowers, the smell of fresh rain....definitely not the allergies!
2. What's the worst part of spring?
Just mentioned...the allergies....major pain in the butt! Also the inconsistency (not that it's ever "consistent") in the weather patterns.
3. What do you look forward to in the spring?
Definitely 30 minutes more of sun, per month...remember...I live in British Columbia! I also look forward to getting rid of the "parka"!
4. What is a perfect spring day like for you?
The sun rising, the mist rising, the coffee perkolating, the kids off to school, the garden begging for attention, the warm walks with the mutt, the bbq firing up again and the smell of charcoal filling the air.
5. How's that spring cleaning coming along?
I think we talked about it...2 years ago....it's still in the works! ;o)

Okay...let's start somewhere.

So my sister came to pick me up at 3 a.m....she was bang on time. I was trying to find the toothpicks to keep my lids open around 12 a.m....somehow I survived. I tried getting Teddy to bed around 2 a.m. (they had a pro-d day...or...another day for the teachers to sit around and drink coffee and eat donuts!). At around 2:30 he came back up and gave me a really big hug...and then said something around, "I'm gonna miss you mom" (*ahem*). When Di came, he was still awake and helped me out with my bag (trying to get me out asap, is how I saw it), gave me another kiss and with that...we were gone. My sister is a crazy driver....hydroplaning through puddles, waiting at green lights, going through red ones...and she had a nap!

We got to the airport in plenty of time and being that I was so tired, was a really good thing....I really didn't care/worry about much. I was however, totally thrilled with finding out that the flight from Vancouver to Seattle was only 27 minutes (in the air) as opposed to 57! Everything went smooth. I popped a "Gravol" in Seattle as I suspected they weren't about to serve booze to anyone at 9 o'clock in the morning.

The switch over to Seattle went smooth and thankfully our suitcases came over without a hitch as well. The next 5 1/2 hours were a bit of a blur...between snoozing, word searches, more snoozing, yammering....we were there in no time...yay! I could not have been more happy arriving on ground...no matter how intense the landing was.

Now picture two women with huge suit-cases boarding the sub-way and trying to make their way through the rush hour. Did you know there were no escalators/elevators in the sub-way stations?! We had no freaking idea!!! And what's more....it's amazing the looks you get trying to get on/off the sub-way with bags as big as ours (yes...we over-packed...yes...we brought too much....yes....I'm a woman of *you just never know*). It's quite the scene to see someone carry a 50 lb Reebok bag up 50 stairs....*bump, bump, bump*. That was my first work out!

Thankfully we were only 2 blocks away from our hotel and totally excited to get this "time away" on the road!

Crazy thought

I have a crazy thought going through my head...not as crazy as my sister...that's just insane. I have to see a physiotherapist first.....it's like my sister said..."if you really want something....". She may be "younger" but, she's a hell of a lot more wiser....in my opinion.

Wu-Tangtini

Before we get into the whole "Boston" story, cuz I've just been too wiped to write about it quite yet.....

The hubs took me out for dinner tonight...well, I sort of made him...sort of. Hey, it was our 17th anniversary...it's the least he could do for having me put up with his family for this long...right?! ;o)

Anyways....yummy food...great drink! A combination of Smirnoff Vodka, white cranberry juice, Soho Lychee Liquor and a garnish of starfruit.

17 years.....and to think I thought it was 18 years...good thing he set me straight.

I'm back!

No...my sister isn't in this shot. But I am back! The experience was amazing! I have a new respect for "runners"...for my sister! We got in last night around midnight...hit the sack at around 2:30...got up this morning to be scheduled for surgery on June 4th and then off to work. I am tired...so very tired...

More stories to come!

Would go back in a heartbeat!....especially to "shop in the rain" with my sister! ;o)

Boston

This place is amazingly amazing! But yes...Erik...the driver's are nuts!!!

Well my sister has been running for about 30 minutes now, she should be coming around the finish line between 1:30 and 2:00 (it's 11:00 a.m. now). The weather is perfect for her and she's looking forward to doing some celebrating later on today!

For now....gotta run and use up my camera card....did I mention....this place is AMAZING!!!

3 hours to go

It's just about midnight here and I just finished a game of Bejeweled. Everything is done...cooking, cleaning, paperwork, ironing...hell, I remembered at 5:30 tonight that we were running very low on toilet paper....got that too! I'm all packed and I even have my passport. I just hope my luggage isn't too heavy!? It's going to be a long night and I could very easily crash right about now. My sister should be here by 3 and then we're to be checking in at the airport at 4:30. Our flight leaves for Seattle at 6:30 and leaves Seattle again at 8:50. We should be in Boston at 2:30 (our time), 5:30 their time. Krystina's having a real hard time with me going...so much so in fact, that she's still awake! So are the boys though...they're determined to see me off. Tony's boss gave me a call this evening and has invited my sister and I to join he and his daughter for a pasta dinner on Sunday night. Oh, I didn't tell you? His daughter is running at the same as my sister is. They're arriving a couple of hours after us and leaving a day earlier but it'll be nice to say hi and share a bowl of noodles together!

Apparently there are 30,000 runners in this marathon and 3,000 are coming from BC/Canada?...I can't remember which, but still....that's a lot of maple leaf's pounding the pavement.

Oh wow...the yawns are a happening. It's going to be a very, very long night.

See you when I get back!

No stopping time

So apparently I'm supposed to pack my bag tomorrow and head on a jet plane?! How the heck did I get roped into doing that?! Seriously...I just don't "do" planes! But then again, that's what I said about the "Gondola" and I went on that as well. But um yeah...planes?...now there's progress.

I actually managed to get through another client's work today...yay! All I have to do is list my analysis for the accountant...and explain why we over-stated their income by about $73,000 last year...um yeah, I think I'll write that e-mail around midnight tomorrow...right before my sister picks me up!

Then I'm free to do some cooking, pick up a white, collared, dress shirt for Al's band trip next week...some laundry for the old guy and then of course....some packing. I've done an itinerary and schedule for everyone and made a nice long list of "numbers to call". Krystina is already having "separation anxiety" and I'm feeling for her.

I just hope they remember to feed her.

I amaze myself

I just put together an "schedule" for the family while I'm away. Seeing everything that needs to be remembered, written on paper....even blows me away.

My life is truly psychotic.

Up in smoke

Whoever thought it would be so much work to get a cigar order together?!

Padron, Cortico's and Fuente, something or other's are on the list....ahhh....but does anyone (in Boston) carry them? And if they do...can I afford them?

Things I'm always learning

Old people and t.v. converters just do not mix!

My arms and ovens do not mix!

I'm getting on a jet plane in 4 days...something not right here?!

Happy Easter!

Happy Easter everyone! Hope the bunny is a good one....if not to your kids, then more importantly...to you! ;o)

Life's been clicking by, so much to do, so little time to do it. I have 5 days before I leave for Boston and so much to accomplish. Not sure why I'm stressing about it, because I know it'll get done...it always does. I'm looking forward to the break, a bit of a change and maybe the kids will miss me...just a little?!

I made a yummy dinner last night of salmon and some really nice garlic and pepper encrusted chicken breasts from Costco that I threw on the bbq. For $16 I got 5 really nicely sized (bone-in) breasts that had a most delic flavor!

I also had a client come by yesterday (yup....even on Good Friday...I get no rest) and I ended up having to slap him around a bit, I think he finally "gets it". lol...he was confused on a GST issue.

Anyways....just got a call, have to take my fil to the clinic...something about a sore ear...the fun never stops.

Like a 5 tonne truck

I've been hit by allergies...again...worse than ever, ever! My head aches, my nose aches, I'm dripping everywhere and my throat is raw from sneezing.

Not to mention that I have "the runs" again.

I'm just a fun bowl of cherries!

28% in math; 50.6% in french; old stubborn men; and...the monthly

....needless to say...."frustration"!

Chaos has set in

....I'm going to be very, very busy over the next couple of days. Hopefully I'll still get a chance to write, but...I may not....see you in a few!

Busy weekend...

....between haircuts, groceries, dance class, laundry, work, cooking and...enjoying the sun!!! Yes....we had glorious sun!!! Hard to believe that just a mere week ago it was snowing here like the dickens and today....I was sitting in the front yard, doing paperwork in 20 degrees of beautiful vitamin D!

I took a day off from working out. Yes..it's become a sickness...in a good sort of way...I suppose...at least for my heart and for my husband ;o)! I managed 6 days last week and plan on 6 days this week... I've become obsessed with food labels, sodium content and fat amounts. Why?....because I also see the tummy shrinking in the mirror when I'm sweating it out on the treadmill! And....I'm feeling all the better for it! I might be 42 but...there's no reason I can't get back to where I was 5 years ago...at least I'm not giving up...yet!

Tonight I made "Tilapia" fish marinated in a "lemon and herb" dip....so far I'm the only one who really "enjoyed" it...but that could be because it's a hell of a lot better than boiled fish.

Tomorrow it's a busy day of picking up paperwork. I don't have time to complete. As well as the gym and so much more....because....my life is never a bore!

Minimal

I don't have a hell of a lot to say tonight...feeling kinda "eh"...tired, grumpy, hungry...gee...it almost sounds like I smoked some pot....nada!...those were the old, old, old days!

Speaking of which...I sent Teddy's teacher an e-mail today, ended up sending it to the wrong teacher, at the wrong school....ended up at the school I graduated from. They told me that there was no-one by "that" name at that school...I told them thanks...and that I graduated from "that" school....24 years ago!!! How depressing!?!?!

Working out every day. Trying to save money...every day. Gained a pound...ugh!

Two weeks folks! Clam chowder...here I come...but not before I cook up a storm, get the house in order, write a schedule for these people and make sure there's new sheets for my uncle's arrival....not to mention that my fil is stable and in order.

So yeah...I have an awful lot of glue and paint on my hands....which has nothing to do with anything except....I told you I didn't have a hell of a lot to say.

See you tomorrow.

Is this a joke?!

It's snowing outside!! I "fool" you not!!
